The design, product selection, installation and maintenance are the components that create a successful solar PV system.  If you are thinking of solar PV the most important thing to remember is that this is a twenty plus year investment that if planned and implemented properly will create wealth for the owner.  A project's first cost should NEVER be a deciding factor.

Large commercial installations with over a thousand solar PV panels require a monitoring system that allows for automated troubleshooting.  It is impossible to identify a row of solar PV panels that are not performing properly in real time without such a system.  The initial system cost is higher with this added layer of monitoring but a successful installation MUST have it. 

Using high quality components, oversized power wiring, stainless steel wire racking, the highest quality PV DC wiring and connectors costs more initially but assures system integrity and better performance from the start to the twenty plus year mark.   

There is a difference in the quality of the solar PV panels.  The importance of this is crucial to the overall system's performance.  When using central inverters and a string solar PV formation the output of the string is determined by the panel putting out the least amount of power.  Quality control in the process of manufacturing the solar PV panels is crucial for optimum performance.
